Absolutely the best tires I have ever had on my car. Sold the car and even with 35,000 miles on the DWS tires, they looked new. The best, period.
77,000 miles mostly highway miles and still more to go. Great traction summer and winter - dry, wet or snow. Only negative is they have always seemed to wander more than others. Couldn't ask for more!
Great tires. Ultimate balance between wet/snow traction and daily drivability on an SUV.
I bought these tires a week ago. I've been able to try them out in hot, cold, snow and rain. They are great tires. Didn't realize how bad my old ones were.
Had Hankook Ventus on my Chrysler RWD and it was terrible on snow or ice, almost undriveable. Also it had a rough ride. I changed over to Continental DWS and am very pleased with results. I now have excellent traction on snow and ice. Ride is much smother, much less noise and handles much better. Before, I didn't drive this car in winter because it was so bad. Now, I can use this car in any weather. Thanks to Continental for a GREAT tire.
Incredible tire. Works well in the snow.
The Continental DWS is a great three-season tire and, considering its wide, low profile, it performs acceptably well in the snow. I've owned multiple sets of these tires, which speaks more effectively to my satisfaction with them than any additional words of praise I could write.
I have these same tires on my BMW xDrive Sedan. Handle great at high speed in all weather conditions. Used them on the autobahn at 140 mph. Excellent handling at a reasonable price. Wanted to put the same on my GTI.
They are the best tires for your car. I'm telling you, without these it's hard because these tires do everything you need them to do. Yes, I would buy them again.
Noisy after 20,000 miles.
I bought a set 215-45/R18 for the Mazda and admit this is a good overall tire, but it does have some flaws. First, the sidewalls are soft, making corning very unstable, to the point where the tire feels as though it's going to curve under the rim. While the traction in the Indiana weather is top-notch, the soft sidewalls make handling and drive-ability a little scary at times. I could never get the alignment to keep after a day or two. The soft sidewalls were also very prone to impact breaks (the bulges form when hitting pot holes). So, while it's a good traction tire for higher-performance type vehicles, it comes at a cost.
These are the best all weather tires I have ever used. They give you a confidence in the rain that is very reassuring. Puddles, big or small, are not ever a problem. I have yet to hydroplane in these tires, and I am going on to my second set after 60k of the first set. In the snow, they are not a complete replacement for snow tires but will not get you into trouble. They have amazing grip and traction in snow. Perfect for getting through 6-8 inches of snow or less or less than optimally plowed roads.
100x better ride than stock run flats. Low noise, and great in all conditions! Keeps my SRT planted.
Great all around tire. Would purchase again. Great in snow for an all season tire.
Excellent tire in all conditions.
Continental Extreme Contact DWS (+2" wheel diameter) for Acura Integra LS (small two-door coupe) with custom suspension (Eibach Pro, Energy poly bushings, & soon to be Skunk2 adjustable upper control arms). I HIGHLY recommend these tires. You don't know what driving is. At least you don't until you drive a set of these Continentals. I never had any interest in Continental until 2011 when I needed a new set of tires. My Goodyear Eagles were the sloppy handling set on stock suspension that I was replacing. After about 2 weeks of researching, I found these. One night going home from St. Augustine on SR-16, an animal dove in front of my car. I swerved on the wet, two-lane road and missed the animal, but the wet grass and over-compensating due to worn-out tie rods had me sliding sideways down the road at 60-70mph. The tires regained grip and after several counter-measured steering maneuvers and 100ft of ABS-pulsed rubber on the road, I was able to safely stop on the side of the road as a tractor trailer blew by. Smoke filled the car and I was shaken up, but the tires had performed exceptionally. I was running 16" Continentals on aftermarket Konig alloys. Had I been running the previous 14" Goodyears on the stock steel wheels I would be DEAD right now as the soft sidewalled tires would have dismounted from the lateral load and I would have hit a tree. After getting the car home, springs, struts, strut-cushions, inner and outer tie rods, and bushings were replaced (steering was restored to maximum compliance for a then 15-year old car). Wheel bearings, ball joints, have since been replaced and soon to be UCAs. These tires now have 20,000 miles on them and appear to be less than half-used. They still handle exceptionally and I recommend them any time tires comes up in conversation. I live in Florida where it doesn't snow so I can't rate that question. They handle well on wet pavement, stop fast, corner amazingly (as long as air pressure is maintained--for me: 39 psi). Overall, they're very good tires with a stiff sidewall and moderate tread (see 50,000 mile warranty) and I will buy them again as long as Continental keeps making them. Ignore people who say that they handle badly on a vehicle that comes from the factory with vague/sloppy, unresponsive cornering (e.g. CRV, any Buick, Taurus, Escape, etc.). No set of tires can compensate for inferior spring rate, but anything halfway performance-minded will love these tires. My Integra did...especially on US 129 (the Tail of the Dragon) in TN. Stop reading and go buy them!!! Final caution: plan to order them BEFORE you need them because they're often shipped in directly from the factory in South Carolina and it takes 2+ days to arrive.
I purchased at 40,000 miles, lasted to 106,000. Finally hit the tread wear indicators. Excellent on ice, in snow, in rain. Great dry traction, car hugged tight corners. Easy to balance. I highly recommend this tire.
These are probably the best all-season tires for winter use. They are pretty great in snow. Dry handling and steering response are a little dulled, probably due to the split tread pattern. Noise was very acceptable. Had these on my '10 A6 for 2 years and had no issues at all. They can handle fast exit ramps very well, but the feel just isn't as sharp as some others. I chose Michelin PS3 A/S for my current Audi. In the dry, they're better, but not as good as these in winter. Just depends what your priorities are.
While these are not pure snow tires, they perform better than all seasons unless you're dealing with ice. They feel a bit soft on turn in, but they are great in the wet and dry. Plus they are quiet as well.
For my R350 these were the best value. I am not disappointed. I bought them this winter and will buy over and over again!
Purchased a set of Continental DSW 225-65-17 tires today and so far so good. I LOVE THEM! CRV runs smooth and the service was fantastic! Thank you.
I am pleased with the all around performance of these tires and will buy them again.
This was the 2nd best tire I have ever had on the car in the snow and heavy rain. It is fantastic in every category. It's great, just not as good as Goodyear triple treads in the snow and ice. Since the triple tread is not in my size, this tire is a great runner up. And continental is so good with honoring their warranty for road hazards. So it is a sure bet in my book. I will go back next time I need new continental dws`s put on my car.
When I heard about these new tires, I was skeptical as I was a Michelin devotee. But my friend was right... the Conti DWS Extreme Contact tires were perfect for my car, transforming the handling in all conditions. This is probably the best performance tire I've put on my car without sacrificing ride comfort, road feel, or steering. The car really sticks to the road even in wet road conditions! Thanks for a terrific tire recommendation.
Great tire all around, probably the best snow grip you can find for an all season tire.
So far I really like these tires.
I have over 40,000 miles on these tires. The tires have a "DWS" stamped on the tire to indicate when the tire still has tread depth for either Dry, Wet or Snow conditions. The S is all but gone. They are no longer suitable for driving in the snow. I have never been impressed with how they handled when there was snow on the ground, even when they were brand new. They are quite good in wet and dry conditions however. Road noise is minimal and they have good grip when cornering. I will be purchasing different tires next.
I have put over 60,000 miles on this set and I believe they are the best tires I have ever had. I have been driving 40,000 miles per year for nearly 30 years - 1,250,000+ miles, driven Michelin, GoodYear, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Uniroyal, Dunlap and many more. These have performed extremely well in snow, in rain, and have given me great mileage. I will be buying another set soon.
These tires are new, so far they handle as claimed. Plows out of 3-4" of snow and when they hit ashpault. They grip.
I am on my second set of the DWSs,I got 63,000 miles out of the first set, that is the most I have ever gotten out of a set of tires on this car. I usually get about 20,000 out of a set of tires. These tires are unbelievable in the snow for an all season tire. They are better than some snow tires I've run. Not the best summer dry traction tire, but can't be beat in rain snow and ice. Best all around tire I've used, just keep them at 5 psi over recommended pressure. Have had two replaced under warranty for road hazard with no hassle.
These tires are the best tires I have ever bought. Have had them for 4 years now and will continue buying them in the future. Until I purchase a designated winter tire set, these tires are great year round and for PA winters with our 1-6 inch show storms. The tires handle great in the snow and the rain! No complaints whatsoever!
The Continental Exreme Contact DWS is a great straightline tire. It is very quiet and has excellent wet weather traction. The sidewalls are soft so cornering stability and quick lane changes aren't the best when compared to other High Performance All Season tires in the same category. If you are looking for more wet weather performance than cornering, this is a great choice.
These tires are absolutely fantastic in rain. I have driven through torrential downpours with these tires and they have unreal grip. I mean unreal. Better than any tire I have ever owned. The sidewalls are not really stiff. They ride well and are quiet. Cornering could be a little better. Don't scrub the sidewall because you may have a flat if you rub the sidewall. I drove them in icy conditions and they were very predictable with a more than reasonable amount of grip (I slowed down and didn't drive too fast). The only downside to these tires is the dry traction is OK, not bad but not up to the level of wet traction. The wear was OK but not as long as it could have been because I didn't rotate them like I should have. I still got over 35-40k miles out of them.
Excellent tire, great handling, quiet and soft. Would buy again.
Best tire I've ever owned. Excellent snow traction. These tires are practically snow tires! Not sure why other people had problems. Even if you try to spin out in the snow in these tires, it is hard to do. Great traction. I've had these tires for at least 30k miles, but probably even more than that. Great tread life.
Very noisy tires. 3 of the 4 were defective. Could not balance them properly. They had the "wandering" issue of being all over the road. A constant battle trying to stay straight. Longevity was ok, but, otherwise they were garbage.
The wet weather performance of these tires is top notch! Living in Northern VA I haven't had a chance to use them too much in snow. Dry weather the tires perform well for all season radials. Extremely well rounded tires.
4 new tires purchased in Mar 2011, 3 of the 4 are bulging at the sidewalls. I have about 33,000 miles on the tires. Having to buy all new tires now--- will not buy again, nor would I recommend.
Very quiet, smooth ride, small gas mileage improvement. I hope they stay this way for a long time as they seem like excellent tires and bring out the good handling characteristics of the car without noise or ride harshness. The small mileage improvemnt was about 10% (about 27 mpg to about 30 mpg) on the highway at an indicated crusing speed of about 85 mph. Rain performance observation was on asphalt with heavy rain showers in town at lower speeds. Cornering was on asphalt curves on a hillside descent - some wet and some dry. These tires are a good choice for this car based on one week of active daily driving and a total of about 2,500 miles.
